Norton Motorcycles - Superlight Price: POA
Last Updated On: 22/05/2020
The recently introduced Superlight from Norton Motorcycles is designed for those who are looking for a mid-size, street-legal ride that still qualifies as a racebike.
Norton built the 650cc parallel twin engine in-house and borrowed heavily from its V4 powerplant for some real racetrack DNA. Mainly because of the liberal use of carbon fibre and aluminum the weight is kept very low (superlight) at only 158kg (dry). so the 105-horsepower mill has less mass and inertia to deal with.
The V4 RR’s influence is plain to see in the overall aerodynamic body shape, so the Superlight brings much the same windtunnel-tested design elements to the table, just in a supersport sized package instead of a full-on superbike one.
The instrumentation is handled in its entirety by the seven inch colour display that doubles as an interface for the ride-quality controls, including three ride modes: Road, Sport, Pro-Race.
A diamond-stitch, multi-material solo seat is the only option as Norton's clever dual seat is not available here.
A Superlight SS version featuring a supercharged powerplant will also be offered.
