Charge Automotive - Mustang EV Price: from £300,000
Last Updated On: 10/04/2020
Charge Automotive have recently launched a classic Mustang* EV, based on Ford's* iconic muscle car from the 1960s. Apart from installing a fully electric powertrain in place of the original components, this is a total new-build from the bottom up using new licensed bodyshells. A cabrio version will also be available.
Power comes from a 64kWh battery pack which can accept 50 kW fast charging, and possibly two electric motors generating peak power of 350 kW (402hp) and 885 lb/ft of torque. This should give a 124 mile (200km) range and a 0-60mph (97km/h) time of just 3.1 seconds is possible.
On the faithfull 'McQueen' style exterior there are LED headlights, a revised grill, new tail lights and a set of ten spoke wheels, all stopped by a high performance brake system. Suspension settings will include Lower, Ride and Raise options.
Inside, the premium interior is very up to date, with more than a shade of Tesla's Model S, particularly the huge centrally mounted touchscreen which controls many of the car's functions. The car's ability to drive through two or four wheel drive can be switched via this touchscreen, as can the three driving modes of Eco, Sport and Ultimate.
A total of 499 cars will be built, deposits are now being taken with deliveries expected to start in September 2019.
