Aston Martin - DB11 Coupe/Volante Price: from £147,900

Last Updated On: 20/06/2019

The Aston Martin DB11 is the first product launched under the company’s ‘Second Century’ plan, and showcases a fresh and distinctive design language, pioneering aerodynamics and is powered by a potent new in-house designed 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Built upon a new lighter, stronger, and more space efficient bonded aluminium structure, DB11 is the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin’s history. As such, it is the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003.

Innovative aerodynamics play their part in this aesthetic revolution with clever management of airflow both over and through the bodywork aiding stability while preserving the DB11’s uncluttered surfaces. The DB11 is now available in the Volante open top version (images 5 & 6).

Like every Aston Martin, the heart of the DB11 is found beneath the bonnet, though unlike any Aston Martin before it, the DB11’s heart is a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12. This new engine develops 608PS and 700Nm of torque, making DB11 the most powerful production DB model ever. Naturally, it’s the most dynamic and most accelerative too, with a top speed of 200mph (322km/h) and a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of just 3.9 seconds. In September 2017, Aston Martin announced the addition of an AMG-sourced 4 litre V8 to the DB11 range, which gives the car a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of 4 seconds and a top speed of 187mph (301km/h).

The interior of DB11 is a beautiful space. Natural materials, craftsmanship, and state-of-the-art infotainment technology provide the ultimate in comfort and convenience. Everyday practicality is enhanced with a luggage compartment that can swallow two golf bags and the ability to fix two child seats. The door apertures are larger than previous DB models, front seat occupants enjoy 10 mm of extra headroom, while rearwards, a 54 mm increase in headroom and 87 mm more legroom mean DB11 is a true 2+2.

A full-colour 12” TFT LCD display presents primary vehicle information with absolute clarity, while a second, centrally-mounted 8” TFT screen is dedicated to infotainment. The new satellite navigation and audio system (Aston Martin Premium Audio or Bang & Olufsen BeoSound system upgrades available) have never been easier to operate.

Aston Martin has now added a new flagship to the range, the DB11 AMR, boasting greater power, increased performance, enhanced driving dynamics and a more characterful exhaust note. At its heart is a twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 that now delivers 630bhp and a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of 3.7sec and a top speed of 208mph (335km/h) (images 1 & 8).
